Health and Safety Representative Course
About the course
This five-day course is designed for newly elected Health and Safety Representatives. It provides the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the functions of an HSR under Western Australian work health and safety legislation.
Duration: Five days
Delivery: Face-to-face
Certification: A Certificate of Attendance will be issued on successful completion.
During the course, you will learn about:
- the Western Australian WHS legislative framework
- the role and functions of Health and Safety Representatives
- consultation and issue resolution
- monitoring workplace risks
- workplace inspections and incident investigation
- Provisional Improvement Notices
- directing unsafe work to cease.
Venue information
Accessibility
Our training centre includes a split-level area with stair access to some rooms. If you have accessibility requirements or require assistance with mobility, please let us know before the course so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Attire
Please wear smart casual clothing suitable for a training environment. Closed-in shoes must be worn. We recommend dressing in layers, as room temperatures can vary.
Catering
Morning and afternoon tea are provided and include tea, coffee and biscuits.
If you have specific dietary requirements, allergies or food preferences, please feel free to bring any additional snacks or drinks you may require.
Lunch is not provided. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase food from a nearby café or supermarket. Refrigerator and microwave facilities are available.
Food and drinks
To help keep our training rooms clean and minimise accidental spills, food must be consumed in the tea room rather than in the training rooms. Water may be taken into the training rooms. Other drinks may only be taken into the training rooms if they are in a spill-resistant keep cup or drink bottle.

What to bring
Please bring a pen and highlighter. Your course manual and any required reference materials will be provided during the course.
