Cert IV Training and Assessment Upgrade to TAE40116
Who should do this upgrade training?
The transition course from TAE40110 to TAE40116 is designed for current holders of the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. (If you are wishing to undertake the full course, please visit our Cert IV in Training and Assessment page).
Am I required to upgrade to TAE40116?
Trainers and Assessors who deliver and/or assess nationally recognised training for an RTO or in a partnership arrangement with an RTO are required to upgrade their qualifications by July 1st 2019. Further details are contained in the media release from ASQA here
Trainers and Assessors who do not deliver and/or assess nationally recognised training are not governed by the Standards for Registered Training Organisations, in which case it is up to you or the organisation you work for, to decide whether it is appropriate to upgrade your qualification.
What if I hold a Diploma qualification from the Training Package or higher level qualification in adult education?
The upgrade requirement applies only to trainers and assessors holding the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, who deliver and/or assess nationally recognised training. RTOs can continue to allow trainers and assessors holding Diploma qualifications from the TAE Training Package or higher level qualifications in adult education, to deliver and/or assess nationally recognised training.

TAEASS401 – Plan assessment activities and processes
TAEASS403 – Participate in assessment validation
TAEASS502 – Design and develop assessment tools
Cost
$975 if you already have the LLN Unit
$1275 if you don’t have the LLN Unit.

Location
TSA’s public workshops are convened at our centrally located training centre in Mt Lawley, just four kilometres north of the Perth CBD. We also deliver tailored in-house courses throughout Australia, as well as overseas if needed.
Course pre-requisites
Those entering this program must already hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and be able to demonstrate vocational competency (broad industry knowledge and experience) in the area in which they wish to train and assess others.
Conditions of enrolment
Those enrolling in this program must be able to meet the following conditions of enrolment:
- Access to a workplace in which they can deliver training and conduct assessment activities with vocational learners
- Access to an environment in which they can develop and trial assessment plans and tools for nationally recognised units of competency
- Access to a computer, printer and the internet

Assessment requirements
Both modules of TSA’s Assessment Upgrade course include post-course assessment tasks which you will need to complete and submit to TSA for assessment.
The timeframe for completing the assessment tasks is approximately 3 – 4 months per module. Extensions of up to 3 months a provided where a formal request is received, and additional extensions may be allowed in exceptional circumstances.
